Impact of GOGA continues to be felt across the country

When 7 in 10 participants have continued to be active outside of a GOGA activity, it’s easy to understand how helping organisations and communities across the UK has supported the least active disabled and non-disabled people to become and maintain being active.

During 2024-25, five areas of England are continuing to provide a variety of activities for members of their communities. These are Amber Valley, Blackpool, Black Country, Sunderland/South Tyneside, and Wiltshire.

Whether the focus is on healthy eating, trying a new activity, or becoming more physically active, the added benefits* to participants include:

  • Engaging more socially
  • Improved mental health
  • Overcoming personal barriers
  • Feeling included and welcome

From inclusive swimming to chair-based exercises, walking football to fitness and friendship groups, members of these five localities can enjoy activities that are tailored to their individual needs.

Flexibility is key to the GOGA approach. The diversity of people who take part in activities means that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to designing and leading an activity. All leaders and volunteers of the activities are trained, which helps participants feel welcomed and listened to.

A variety of activity sessions are taking place until the end of March 2025. If you would like to help us continue to change lives, then please contact us on GOGA@activityalliance.org.uk.
